AMD 1

Guten Tag!

For this AMD I went to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with my father. This is one of the biggest auto shows of the year and it attracts a large and diverse group of people from all over the globe. I saw many German people there and engaged in small talk with quite a few of them. The first thing I noticed was that my accent is very different from theirs, but they still could easily understand me. Also, there was a lot of variation in the accents of the Germans too. Sometimes understanding their responses was difficult because of the speed at which they would talk and I found myself saying "Wie bitte" and "entschuldigung, noch einmal" quite often. That was not a problem though, as most Germans were very friendly and seemed quite happy at the effort I was making. At the Audi display their slogan "Vorsprung durch Technik" was displayed and I asked several Audi employees "Was bedutet 'Vorsprung durch Technik'?" Suprisingly not one of the employees spoke German but they were still able to tell me it translated to "progress or advancement through technology". Even when there where no Germans around I continued to speak in German to my father which greatly annoyed him. I thought a lot of the new concept cars on display were futuristic. My favorite and most realistic car for my future self was the 2012 convertible camaro.
