After hearing the classical selections we listened to in class, I decided to do some research on Mozart. Mozart was not born in Vienna as many believe, but rather Salzburg, Austria in 1756. By age five, he had already mastered the violin and piano and was composing and performing for European royalty. He wrote his first opera, "Mitridate, re di Ponto", at age 15. By age 17, he was a court musician in Salzburg.  In 1781, Mozart departed for Vienna. In Vienna, Mozart composed many of his most famous works. Many of these pieces are still performed today in the famous Vienna opera house. Mozart died in 1791 at the age of thirty-five.
