Guten Abend,
As much as learning German has made we want to travel to German, reading these articles definitely don't make me want to live in Germany. It might be nice to not having people making noise when you are trying to take a nap on a Sunday afternoon, but to have that mandated by law seems a little over kill. I understand that German's like order, but regulating that a dog can only bark for 30 min? Really? I also thought it was strange that people decide in 3rd or 4th grade what sort of school they want to go to. I probably still wanted to be a princess at that age. I certainly was not ready to make an informed decision, nor did my parents have any idea what I would want to be.
I guess that if you are going to have people have to have so much documentation to get a job or do anything then you better start making decisions early. It's so funny that while here we work so hard to make a resume as short as possible, Germans try to amass as much information as they can. It must take quite a system to keep all that organized. It is too bad that the Germans still aren't able to express their national pride. Flying a flag should not be a faus pas. They should be able to be proud of the accomplishments that their county has.
