Kultur 9

Ich finde, dass die Regeln und die Tendenzen in Deutschland sehr komisch sind. The rules that exist between neighbors and the regulations in place that require everybody to have documents available to prove basically anything that doesn't actually need to be proven seem like a funny quirk about German culture. It's odd to think that there are certain aspects of German culture that are much more relaxed (nudity, alcohol consumption) and that there are also aspects that are much more rigidly set.
I also found the Brennpunkt Kultur article on page 353 really interesting in that same sense. The way schooling is set up in Germany seems very rigidly imposed, and it seems really weird that occupational choices are essentially made as early as the third or fourth grade. There is an obvious contrast there with the US, where even in college people tend to encourage the idea that one doesn't have to know their career goals right away.
