It is odd to think that six decasdes after World War II, there is still disconnect in a "unified" Germany. The easterners and westerners dislike each other as well as the northerners and southerners. It amazes me that one in five people in Germany want the wall to be built back up or wish that it was never taken down. Tearing down the wall, in my opinion, brought good to Germany. It removed many social and economic barriers that were in place because of the wall. Commerce between east and west started once again and people from the east and the west could begin to once again interact with each other. It is the older generation of the east that holds "Ostalgia". However, as this generation dies off, the younger generations' idea of liberalism and unity will be the common belief of the nation.
