I recently spent an hour looking through media by German photographers and filmmakers. Up and coming sort of people... it's interesting to see what sort of subjects German people are interested in. It feels like whenever you watch an American short film it is either super, über passionate and intense, OR Jersey Shore bullshit. With German media (or at least in what I saw) it seems like they're able to connect to the medium of those two. And by channeling those sort of things it's easier for people (audiences) to relate to. I'm a huge fan of cinema, both German, American, British, even French, pretty much anything, and it seems the Germans are really good at focusing on real life situations. The German sense of humour is.. notable, and sometimes dry, but these aspects are not found in drama. I enjoyed most of what I saw!
