Der Studentin Blog: Wisdom Begins in Wonder

Ich habe in Anfang begonnen. Die erste Post ist bevor Rebecca verlasst nach Deutschland. Sie schreibt über ihren Freunden und ihr Sommer also die ersten zehn Posts sind sehr langweilig und unerheblich (irrelevant). She finally begins posting about her time in Germany in September. Sie leibt in Freiburg und sie sagt, dass die Stadt atemberaubend ist. Der Wohngemeinschaft mischt Englisch und Deutsch Studenten. There are a handfull of German students and American students living together in this place, where they will take classes and converse in German and learn to live together. Her first few posts from Germany have to do with her making friends, starting classes, and adjusting to the little differences. She says something funny in one of her first posts, where she states that she is getting a little sick, and it may have something to do with the food being too good and too natural. Germans and most Europeans don't process and preserve their food for so long, so she is excited about having awesome fresh food available to her always.

Into October she starts to do more traveling, and it interested me that while studying abroad one's classes aren't taking up too much time. she does mention a Referat that she had to do, but there still seems to be a lot of time to take trips and stay in hotels in her time there. She goes to Prague, visits a fellow student in his German hometown, and visits Oktoberfest in Munich.

Reading the start of this blog made me anxious about possibly doing study abroad in the future. It seems exciting, and based on the posts it must be very busy and involved with little down time, but Germany seems like it could be an intimidating place.
