Kultur 7 - Taylor Gray

The set of articles for Kultur 7 were especially interesting just as the previous Kultur's have been. There were two articles that really stood out to me. The first being the discussion of German Supermarkets. Before reading the section I did not have high expectations for how the market would look aesthetically. As soon as I began reading, my previous thoughts proved correct, as it appears German markets don't provide the most "customer friendly environments." The extra fees deposited on EVERY trip seem a bit ridiculous as well. But the part of the article that talked about how it isn't farfetched to find MOLD on some foods is absolutely baffling. I can not imagine seeing fruits and vegetables gone bad as I'm thinking about a fresh meal I might have planned on cooking. I know I will be extremely appreciative of our local Kroger or Meijer next time I visit.

The article about driving in Germany was very insightful as well. Both my parents were engineers at GM for many years and often times took business trips to Germany. I can distinctly remember my mother talking about her first trips over there and the reckless driving that takes place. She never once drove and was always chauffeured by the company, and she made it clear that she never wanted to drive on the autobahn. At first she was incredibly scared and worried, but after awhile she just closed her eyes and prayed for her safety. I guess that's all you can do while on the autobahn. The checklist this article provides seemed to match up very well with what my parents used to say about the crazy driving of Germans.
