Kultur 7

Ich finde den Artikel über Fußball und Profi-Sport interessant. First, I think it's interesting, but not surprising, that Fußball is not only the biggest sport in Deutschland, but most German children start playing or at least learn how to play even before they start school. It's not surprising considering the majority of the world outside of the US is obsessed with soccer, but it did strike me that kids start learning the game before they're old enough to start school. I know from research that I've done before that school is different in Germany than it is here, and that there are quite a few years considered "pre-school". I would have to say that the American equivalent would be baseball, considering that most kids will at least dabble in it and it starts before school. I initially thought that football might be the American equivalent, but upon thinking more about it, kids play soccer like they play baseball in America. Baseball and football are both worked into American culture the same way Fußball is worked into German culture.
