Kultur1

I found the article about low-cost supermarkets like ALDI in Germany fascinating. I thought it odd that shoppers had to put down a deposit on their shopping carts. From previous Kultur articles it seemed like petty theft such as stealing a shopping cart was a rarity. I found it humorous that anything that wasn't German was labeled "American-style". I've only tried 'Asian-style' rice but 'American-style' rice sure does sound good. I can't believe 'meatloaf' made its way onto the German website about American food. I think America and Germany should work out a trade agreement to send meatloaf in exchange for some German delicacy. It sounds like one has to be very cautious if they want to drive in Germany. Making sure I used my blinker would be hard for me and remembering not to pass on the right too. Nevertheless, I will drive on the autobahn, probably in the second lane from the left. I was very pleased to read that Germans aren't really about waiting in line. I always feel very dickish when I cut in line or run over to a newly opened register. Now I don't feel so bad for being impatient. Das ist alles fur jetzt.
