AMD 3 - Taylor Gray

For my AMD 3, I thought it would be interesting to do some research on the German music industry. Since the Grammy Awards aired tonight, I could not help but to think what the German equivalent award show might be. Upon some research, it was determined that the German "Echo Awards" are basically the same thing as our Grammys. The categories for the Award show include Best National Male/Female Artist, Best International Male/Female Artist, Best National Rock/Pop Group, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best International newcomer. The award ceremony occurs twice a year; once in the March and the other in October. Many of the award winners and performers I had never heard of before, but just last year Bruno Mars performed and the ceremony (I'll attach a link to his performance at the end of the post). I wasn't expecting many "American Household" names to be popular in Germany, but after some research, I was proven wrong. Songs by Flo Rida, Adele, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Taio Cruz and Katy Perry round out the current Top 40 songs in Germany. The American influence on Pop culture is definitely apparent worldwide. I will make sure to tune in to the Echo Awards this March!
