It is amazing to think that something so popular in one part of the world is completely unheard of in another part of the world. People assume that foreigners have the same interests that they do. For example, every American knows and has seen countless time, The Sound of Music. Many people are able to recite lines and even scripted dialogue from the movie. Yet most Germans have never even heard of it.
The article abot German Father's Day is quite disturbing. In America on Father's Day, my family usually celebrates with a large meal prepared by my mom on Sunday afternoon, and then we give my dad a card. In Germany, Father's Day is a disgusting mess. They seem to not respect the holiday. Even worse, they do these activities on a holy day in the religious calendar. What was once a traditional holiday has now become a mess.
