AMD 3 - Anna Kemeny

Für AMD 3 habe ich meinen Lieblingsfilm, "Geliebte Jane" auf Deutsch gesehen. I love this movie, and I have watched it so many times that I have almost every line memorized, so I didn't need to use subtitles while watching it because I knew what it was supposed to mean in English.

It was interesting to watch in German because a lot of what was said I could discern from the context or from what I knew they were saying. I could understand a lot of the German words even without knowing what the line meant in English. Some lines that I knew simply from the German were:

"ich weiss, aber ich bin allain" - "I know, but I am alone"
"ausser f
ür mich" - "except for me"

And an example of a phrase that I knew most of but could figure out the rest of from what I knew in English was:

"Aber Geld, ist absolut unentbehrlich" -" Money is absolutely indispensable"

It was especially interesting when I knew both the German words and their intended English translation because some of the phrases would not translate directly. The title is a good example of this. In English the movie is called "Becoming Jane" but in German the title is "Geliebte Jane," which more literally means "Mistress Jane" or "Dear Jane."

It was fun to watch my favorite movie in German and still be able to follow what was going on!
