AMD 3 - John Fuerst

Für AMD 3 habe ich die Sprache auf meinem Handy auf Deutsch geändert. Ich habe viele neue Wörter gelernt. By changing the language on my iPhone, I was able to make a lot of connections between implied meaning of German words and their literal meaning. For example, "Nachrichten" is used in Kapitel 9 to mean "news" but is used for "messages" on my phone. "Bearbeiten" intrigued me as it took the place of "edit" but literally means "to work on". My favorite of the words I learned was used in the place of "shuffle" when playing music: "Zufällig". This means "accidental or coincidental" in German, which I think is a very nice way of expressing that function's use. I found it interesting that so many of the words on both did not change at all, but rather the Germans had borrowed english words, such as "Mail". As both my phone is something I am constantly checking and using, it didn't take me long to memorize words such as abbrechen, fertig and laden which mean cancel, finished and loading respectively. I found that this exercise in practicing German was both fun and interesting. I recommend it to any student of the language.
