For my AMD 3 I decided to make a German food - pretzels. In my research on it, pretzels are especially popular in Bayern, a southern state of Germany. I think the message I got out of the whole experience is that making pretzels aren't easy (at least for the unexperienced). First, you have to make the dough by activating yeast with beer, which takes a while. Then you make the shape of the pretzel, which I didn't think would be so hard (for an awesome video of people making it look easy check out this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYYE2zAi3rc&feature=fvsr ). Afterwards you boil the dough to make the pretzel skin. Finally you bake the pretzels with some salt on them. They turned out pretty well, even though the shapes were a little off.
