Deutscher Musik

Hallo und willkommen!

Für dieses AMD habe ich Deutscher Musik gehört. I took the suggestion to go to the "Step into German" website to listen to what was currently popular or being listened to in Germany.

I listened to all the songs / samples on this page: http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/saf/prj/sig/mus/sog/enindex.htm. Erste war "Country Musik Aus Deutschland"... interessant aber es gefällt mir nicht. Deutschlands starke Frauen war besser für mich , even if there were far too many different songs being shown under the same category for me to really just pick and listen. Madsen however just didn't work for me.... but on that note, I think i'll highlight a few that really did stand out for me.

Surprisingly, I really liked the music samples from the category "Deutsche Schlager" (roughly taken to be hit songs). (especially around 1:20) which surprised me, because with the sample picture they showed, I didn't have my hopes up. I enjoyed how I caught the speaker at 1:35 talking about how anyone (grandparents as well) would enjoy the music. The music at 2:33 on the other hand just had me cracking up - if scream in English isn't your thing, then that probably won't be yours either.

The "Back to the middle ages" music (where at 0:15 they are talking about it being from the "mittelalter" (middle-ages), was also highly enjoyable. i've recently been on a music kick where older instruments being used in more modern music (revitalizing older instruments) has been really enjoyable to me, so it worked nicely for me! (on the other hand, the Eurovision contest sounded kind of like what i'd expect American Idle is like now, which is to say, not quite my preference...) Similarly, their techno/electronic selection wasn't quite what I would hope for... (though, that was around the time where I realized why the transcripts of the discussion weren't opening at least, so I was able to read the transcripts after realizing memory was at capacity because my computer hadn't been reset in awhile...)

In any case, my take-home message in the last category was that Rammstein still gets more attention than they probably deserve. A good band? I listen to them so i'll say sure, but.. overplayed is overplayed.
