I'm glad I decided to stick through that whole video, because I almost gave up a couple minutes in. It did get much funnier towards the end though, as the drunken antics ramped up and James started acting really whacky. I think I can see why that, in a New Year's Eve, not-so-sober setting would be so funny.
Once the video was done, the related videos flashed across the screen, and I saw thumbnail from the famous clip from the movie "Downfall." Someone had edited the subtitles, as is often the case with this clip, and made it about Dinner for One. This was pretty funny, too.

I've heard about Europe's bizarre, at least by our standards, work hours before, so the article about closing times didn't come as a shock to me. As an American who grew up with a well-drilled sense of instant gratification, courtesy of the internet and 24-hour convenience stores, I can say that living in Germany would be rough for that very reason. As my friend Evan might say "It's not a question of why you should go to McDonald's at 3 in the morning, but a question of why not." Sensible closing times are just something that we're not used to, at least not for all of our retailers (no one expects the bank to be open at 3am, but that's why we have atm's, right?). As for the article on Father's Day, I think we've seen this before. German holiday , steeped in tradition, which now mostly involves heavy drinking, occasionally to the point of unconsciousness. No surprises there.
